New Delhi/Patna, July 17, 2025:
A shocking incident of daylight murder inside Patna’s Paras Hospital has sparked political outrage and raised serious questions about law and order in Bihar. The Congress party on Wednesday shared CCTV footage showing four armed men calmly entering the hospital corridor, opening an ICU door, and firing multiple rounds at a patient, before walking away without resistance.
The victim, Chandan Mishra — a murder convict serving time in Beur Jail — was at the hospital on medical parole when he was attacked. Mishra later succumbed to his injuries. "The incident took place during his treatment. Prima facie, an old rivalry seems to be the motive," said Patna Central SP Diksha.
The Congress party strongly condemned the incident, accusing the Nitish Kumar-led government of allowing “goon rule” in the state. "In just the last 17 days, 46 murders have taken place in Bihar. Now, in the capital’s hospital, criminals walk in and kill someone with impunity,” the party posted along with the CCTV video.
The brazen attack has intensified the debate around security and governance in Bihar.
