Mohali – In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife under the influence of alcohol in Mohali on Monday evening. The couple had been married for only two months. The deceased woman, identified as Radhika (29), sustained deep injuries on her head and face. Her husband, Ravi (32), who reportedly worked in an automobile spare parts business, has been accused of committing the crime. According to the police, the incident came to light on Tuesday when neighbours, who had noticed something unusual, informed the authorities. The police reached the spot, took possession of the body, and sent it to the Civil Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, which will be conducted on Wednesday. Neighbours told the police that Ravi often consumed alcohol and that the couple had frequent quarrels over his drinking habits. On Monday evening, during one such argument, an intoxicated Ravi allegedly attacked Radhika with a sharp-edged weapon, killing her instantly. Interestingly, locals had already alerted the police when they heard the couple arguing. A police team reached the house but found the door locked from inside and received no response. Assuming the situation had calmed down, the officers left — only for the tragedy to be discovered the next day. Phase-11 police have registered a case of murder against Ravi and launched an investigation.
