Jalandhar, Punjab – In a deeply disturbing incident, a six-month-old baby girl, Alija, was allegedly strangled to death by her maternal grandparents in Dalla village near Bhogpur, Jalandhar.
According to police, the child’s mother, who had been married three times, reportedly fled with her paramour, leaving the baby behind. The grandparents, citing financial difficulties, are said to have taken the extreme step.
The toddler’s body was later found disposed of near Tanda in Hoshiarpur district.
Acting on the complaint of the baby’s father, Bhogpur police arrested the accused grandparents and registered a case against them.
