New Delhi/Paris, Sept. 7 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday reaffirmed their shared resolve to work toward a “just and lasting peace” in Ukraine during a phone call.
PM Modi reiterated India’s consistent support for dialogue and diplomacy, while Macron briefed him on recent talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the “Coalition of the Willing,” led by France and the UK.
Both leaders also reviewed progress in the India–France strategic partnership, assessing cooperation in defence, space, and technology, and agreed to strengthen ties under the Horizon 2047 roadmap. Modi thanked Macron for confirming his participation in the AI Impact Summit in India next February.
The call came days after Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SCO summit in Tianjin and spoke with Zelensky, underscoring India’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with all sides.
