California – A 26-year-old man from Haryana’s Jind district was shot dead in California after he stopped a man from urinating outside the store where he worked as a security guard, his family said.
The victim, identified as Kapil, had gone to the U.S. three years ago through the “donkey route,” spending nearly ₹45 lakh. He reportedly crossed Panama’s jungles and the Mexico border before settling in California.
According to village head Suresh Kumar Gautam, an argument broke out when Kapil objected to the act. The accused then pulled out a gun and shot him dead.
Kapil is survived by his parents and two sisters. His family has urged the Centre and Haryana government to help bring back his body.
