Russia Launches Largest Aerial Attack on Ukraine with Over 700 Drones; NATO Responds
In its most massive aerial offensive since the war began, Russia launched 728 drones, including over 300 Iranian-made Shaheds, along with 13 missiles (Kinzhals and Iskanders) targeting Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that most of the threats were intercepted by advanced interceptor drones and mobile fire units.
The city of Lutsk, located near the Polish border and a key transit point for Western military aid, was the hardest hit.
In response to the airspace breach near its border, Poland, a NATO member, scrambled fighter jets and raised its armed forces to the highest level of alert, according to a statement by its Armed Forces Operational Command.
The scale and intensity of the attack mark a significant escalation in the conflict, with analysts suggesting that Russia is attempting to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses and disrupt the flow of Western weapons.
