New Delhi:Congress MP from Ferozepur, Sher Singh Ghubaya, has sought the Border Security Force’s (BSF) intervention to bring back Amritpal Singh, a farmer from Fazilka’s Guruharsahai area who inadvertently crossed the international border and was detained by Pakistani authorities.
Ghubaya met BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary in Delhi and submitted a memorandum, requesting urgent action for the farmer’s safe return. “The DG assured that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure Amritpal's early repatriation,” the MP said.
In the meeting, Ghubaya also raised the issue of farmers facing difficulties accessing land across the border fence, urging the BSF to ease procedures. He further proposed the establishment of a training centre near the border to address the region's education gap and drug abuse crisis, saying it would provide youth with alternatives and reduce addiction.
