Washington, D.C. – A motorist was arrested Tuesday night after driving into a security gate outside the White House, authorities said. The incident occurred around 10:37 pm near the corner of 17th and E Streets, according to the US Secret Service.
The Secret Service confirmed that the vehicle was checked by its officers and Washington Metropolitan Police Department officials and was deemed safe. The driver was immediately taken into custody.
Officials have not released further details regarding the driver’s identity, motive, or any potential threats.
