New Delhi, October 12, 2025 :
Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, on his first India visit since the Taliban takeover, said Afghanistan and Pakistan both want positive relations despite recent border clashes. Afghanistan claimed 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed, while Pakistan reported 23 casualties.
“Certain groups in Pakistan try to stir unrest. We responded to protect our borders. We still believe Pakistan’s government and people are peace-loving,” Muttaqi said.
He also announced new air routes (Delhi-Kabul, Mumbai-Kandahar, Amritsar-Afghanistan), proposed reopening the Attari-Wagah border for Afghan goods, and plans for a joint India-Afghanistan trade committee.
Muttaqi addressed criticism over women journalists being absent from his first press meet, calling it a “technical issue,” and reiterated that 2.8 million Afghan girls continue schooling.
Despite tensions, Muttaqi emphasized that the Taliban seeks regional peace and that negotiation doors remain open.
