Taliban spokesperson Zabeehullah Mujahid on Sunday claimed Taliban forces killed at least 58 Pakistani soldiers and wounded more than 30 in retaliatory strikes near the Durand Line in Behrampur district, warning Pakistan that it will “leave no attack unanswered.” Mujahid accused Pakistan of allowing ISIS operatives to take shelter on its soil and urged Islamabad to expel or hand over key militants.
He said Afghan forces struck Pakistani posts across border provinces — including Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Nangarhar and Kunar — seized weapons, and suffered over 20 casualties of their own. Mujahid added that the airstrikes were halted after intervention by Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The Taliban also blamed Pakistan for recent explosions in Afghanistan (two in Kabul, one in Paktika); Islamabad denied responsibility but demanded Kabul stop harbouring Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan elements. Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif condemned the strikes, saying the army “gave a befitting reply,” destroyed posts and would meet any provocation with a strong response.
